[Angel Special]
After ALT meetings every Wednesday, we get together for tonkatsu. It's a tradition some previous ALT started. It's yummy and dinner for £12 is pretty good value. Tea, rice, miso soup and pickles are included in the dinner set, and sometimes the owners would throw in some mashed potato or pasta.
It's a good time to let out stress and talk about problems at work. Some days, work is so frustrating, I just want to scream, but I'm making the effort in trying to make things work. I think these ALT gatherings have become increasingly negative and not at all constructive. Letting it off your chest is fine, but complaining all the time without doing anything about it, blaming others and not reflecting about your own conduct.... I really can't take part in these conversations anymore, bitching behind peoples' backs is just not my thing, nor is bragging about the different ways you've discovered on how to take secret naps or how to get out of work early.
These are nice people, but it seems they've just given up on making their jobs better. Too many issues, not enough support, so maybe it's not so surprising that they don't care anymore.

Oh dear, FOOD again????????????
I know I am Strange??? I lived to work (I did find time to eat?) and just cannot understand these people who have one aim in life - to do as little as possible. What a boring life? Bet they have also not got your enthusiasm for Hiking. Trust life is improving after the Disaster. Thinking about your appetite, have you considered USA for the next stage of your career? They eat like there is no tomorrow, and plenty of scope for hiking. XXX
Haha, that tonkatsu (pork cutlet) was a treat for me, I don't often eat out. At the mo, I've been mainly living on salmon, tofu, daikon (a long white-type of radish) and beansprouts because they're so cheap and yummy.
The States? Not for me I'm afraid, I love the Far East too much, I don't even plan to settle back in the West.
Work has been getting a little better. Nothing happens if I sit around, so now, if I have a proposal or if I want something, I just go ahead and ask. It's gotten to the point where I've realised that my Japanese colleagues here will not make the 1st move when it comes to the ALT, so I will be a bit more aggressive and take the initiative ;)
Now that sounds much better. You had me worried with your unhappy comments. It appears you may well have turned the corner and now looking at life more realistly. Remember "It is not so much what the rest of the World think of you, but WHAT YOU THINK OF YOU????
Forward with confidence.
