My throat is a bit sore today, and you can probably guess why, I really need to figure out a way that will discipline kids without resorting to punishment... and make it understandable to them even if they lack the English. Sigh...
4 of my 5 Little Men are developing well with their English, we can have proper conversations now and they are not afraid to ask questions. Why just 4? I have a new Little Man from Shanghai (China), who just knows Putonghua, and very little English and Cantonese. He's very funny, because he just assumes that everyone speaks his language, so he will happily chatter away to you even if you don't understand... and he can't say my name properly, so he calls me Miss Family. *laugh*
I went to my first Wing Chun class today... and I think to a proper Hong Konger, they wouldn't bother making an hour's journey to a semi-isolated town i.e. no under/over-ground trains, just to do some exercise... but heh, living in the UK for 20-odd years has really given me quite a 'relaxed' attitude towards public transport. Anyway, I arrived about 25mins late, but they quickly settled me in, and it's so obvious that the instructors (yes, did I say instructors with an 'S'? You betcha I did, we had about 6 instructors and assistant instructors keeping an eye out on us today) want to pass on their skills to other people, very reassuring. I was sort of expecting it to be a male-dominated sport, but hey there's quite a few girlies doing their stuff.
Voluntary and the 1st lesson of intermediate Japanese tomorrow.
