First day volunteering for Crossroads, and... I was assigned to sorting out and packing clothing... lots of T-shirts with 'California' logos on the front, and baby rompers. Lots of people from different English and Chinese speaking cultures, very friendly people, but being the reserved person I am, I have to admit that I was a little intimidated by the 'extra' friendly ones. Also, it's very different compared to the other charity associations that I've worked for, it's more relaxed... perhaps because it was my first day and there weren't many people there today... hopefully it's not like this usually, because I do like being kept comfortably busy.
Anyway, work is keeping me busy, now I have to do assemblies every morning, and my extra-curricular classes are starting at the end of the month... and not that I'm boasting or anything, but all my K2 (4 year olds) English classes have been filled to the max, and there are children who are still trying to enroll - "it's the first time that's happened in the history of the school," my school supervisor, so she's certainly pleased, she's making her money's worth out of me. I'm proud to be able to attract so many little customers, but heck I'm not really looking forward to teaching so many children... thank god, there aren't any real troublemakers... just a few kids who really should retake K1 (3 year olds)English classes again.

Think! Now think, the more the merrier, how boring to sit there trying to teach one on his own. Experience of a Geriatric???????? When I was a Cub Scout Leader over 30 years ago a Mother came to me to say her Son was making a great effort to fold up his clothes before he went to bed (One of his Tests). She said "how do you do it, he would not do it for me?" Simple Take away the carrot?????????? Response "But he does not eat carrots"???????? So I proceeded to explain about 'the Donkey and the Carrot' Now Young Lady how about trying this with your difficult Students?
As to a Large Class, I found the more you had to teach, the more chance of a 'Clever Clogs' who would make the task so much easier, by throwing in his two pennyworth, which often changed the perspective and brought in another point of view. Perhaps your Gang are too young for this principle????????????
Thanks for the advice Ron, I'll try it out. One of the methods I'm using is that if they are doing something they know is naughty, I let them do it to their hearts content... somewhere else.
