Day 4
Destination:
Stanley 赤柱, a peninsula on the South-eastern part of Hong Kong Island
Transport:
From Hong Kong MTR Exit B2, go to Exchange Square, and board a bus to Stanley (Buses: 6, 6X, 66 or 206)
Do, Did, Done:
Stanley is a very small town, so it didn't take very long to become familiar with it. The bus journey takes approximately 40 minutes and offers superb views, but it's a bumpy ride that goes up and down hills!
Loads of people sunning themselves on Stanley Beach, even though temperatures are around 30 degrees, the water is 28 degrees and the sand is hot to the touch, definitely sunstroke potential, but the sand is pretty and looks like large granules of demerera sugar.
Had a look around Stanley Market, and haggled for a set of panda thimble boxes. Stanley is by the sea, so expect another Tin Hau Temple. Lastly, went to take a look at The Murray House, a government building that was orginally situated in Central, but was dismantled and rebuilt, brick by brick, in Stanley. Bought a ticket and took a spin around the HK Maritime Museum inside. Also, I'd actually unknowly sight-saw The Old Stanley Police Station, it was when I popped in to buy a drink... from the supermarket inside. (Pic: Mega-mini-houses by an inlet of the sea)
