Summer Holiday - Day 2

Day 2

Destination:
Sha Tin

Do, Did, Done:
Sha Tin it was today and... there isn't terribly much you can do here, other than go to the shopping plazas, shopping malls and shopping centres.

Landmarks worthy of note are Che Kung Temple and Tsang Tai Uk, the oldest walled village in Sha Tin. Photography is not allowed in the main temple itself, but inside Che Kung Temple (Taoism) there is a massive statue of Che Kung, a general of the Song Dynasty (960-1279). Also, a short distance away is a more domestic temple which worships the Four Faced Buddha, very quiet and peaceful and... uncomfortably excessive for someone who's only real contact with religion was with the Christian faith. Choruses of chants were played continuously, and in the main poorly-lit room, hundreds upon hundreds of golden statues filled the room... too many eyes for my liking.

Afterwards, I strolled through the park, took a peek at Sha Tin's Town Hall, took a few snapshots of Snoopy in Snoopy World, and then went shopping... quite a bit of shopping... cos there was really nothing else to do here.
