Summer Holiday - Day 1

My 1-week Summer holiday started today!

Day 1

Destination:
Sheung Wan & Central on Hong Kong Island

Do, Did, Done:
Loads of sight-seeing of... buildings, six hours worth, but very worthwhile if you don't mind the heat, humidity, blazing sun, and tons of walking. In terms of architecture, HK seems to be very modern compared to Britain's more conservative style, and gosh, so many windows, it must be frickin' hard work for window cleaners, especially when buildings can have as many as 50 floors and temperatures soar above 30 degrees... but at least they are never short of jobs.

Also went on the Mid-Levels Escalator, which is 800m long and is the longest covered escalator, travelling the entire thing would take 20 minutes. I went about halfway, I didn't feel like doing the whole thing, it only goes one way from 10:20 to midnight, so I wasn't up to walking back. More info plus pictures on the route I covered in the Photo Album. (Above pic: those guys must have been waiting for a very long time, perhaps for someone to help them down the stairs?!)
