Pommies, Brits & Roast Beef

In our recent Teachers Training Day, we happened to chat about New Zealanders being nicknamed 'Kiwis', so us Britons (just the two of us) wondered what we were nicknamed because we certainly had no idea what we were called!

"Poms," a teacher from New Zealand said. "You are called Poms."
"Really?" we said disbelievingly. " It's the first time we heard of that."

So I did a little search on good old Wiki, and discovered that, sure enough, us Britons are called "poms" or "pommies." I also discovered that we are called a whole lot of other things as well, for example Tommies, Red Necks and Roast Beef... it was actually quite an interesting read. Here's the link: Alternative Words For British.
