Kamakura Revisited
It's been nearly three years since my last visit to Kamakura in the Kanagawa Prefecture. The plan was to also hike from Kita-Kamakura to Hase, but using a different route.
The pace was relaxed, without a concern for time, and the trail was more of a walk in the park than a hike. We stopped to have a look at a couple of temples, and lunch was this bento of the locally renowned Oinari-san (also called Inarizushi) which is deep-fried bean curd sheets that have been cooked in sweet soy sauce and vinegar and filled with rice:
Along the way, we stopped by this lovely cafe that's tucked away in the forest. It's called Itsuki Garden 樹ガーデン (lit.meaning: Tree Garden). It's surrounded by trees, and whilst sipping ice coffee and eating pumpkin pie out on the brick-paved patio under a parasol, one could almost imagine being far from it all.
The hike ended at Hase, and from there we headed to Yuigahama Beach for a dip in the sea. After dinner and some karaoke in Yokohama, I had to run, literally, to catch the last train home.
