Recently I've been having trouble with one of the local English teachers. I really do not agree with her way of teaching and dealing with situations. She's also a particularly long-winded person, English lessons become 90% teacher talking time when she's teaching. She's a nice person, but most of the time I don't think she notices that what she is doing is not beneficial to the students, it's probably character. Students talk when she's talking or do things that are inappropriate, and she doesn't deal with it. Then I deal with it, and she tells me not to?? She tells me to rely on her for behaviour management instead?! Two students complain to me in a disrespectful way about the way I grade and screwed up their score sheets in front of us, and she does nothing?? We had a chat about it, but nothing was resolved because she believes that what she is doing is right, whereas I, in all practicality, after observing her teach for a month, do not agree with her methods. I mentioned it during our individual meetings with the Board of Education, along with a few other lesser concerns, but change is not likely to come anytime quickly, if at all knowing the history of education sectors e.g. checkout the English Education, since I was at school the curriculum has been constantly changed and complained about.
Anyway, other than that, life has been good and I'm enjoying myself here. A couple of us are practising for a dance parade happening within the next couple of weeks. It's some sort of dance accompanied by taiko drums from Aomori. We'll be equipped with costumes and bells! At school, I'm learning to place Igo (kanji:囲碁 chi:圍棋) and will be presenting my debut lunch show, aka DJ Fuu!
