Shatin to Sai Kung

With most of my posts being about hiking, I should really change the name of my blog to 'Hikley-Hiking in Hong Kong'... maybe not, but I have to say, that I've become quite addicted to walking up and down hills, sweating buckets, being mosqui munch, and feeling those leg muscles work. It's pretty amazing where a pair of healthy legs can take you. Today, my legs took me to...

Hike: From Shatin 沙田 to Sai Kung 西貢

Route: Wong Nai Tau, Shatin > Fa Sam Hang > Mui Tze Lam > Wong Chuk Shan > Mau Ping > Kei Pik Shan > Tai Chung Hau, Sai Kung

Walking Time: 3-4 hours

This is such an interesting hike. The rainy weather in the past week and earlier today, have made this hike extra exciting and adventurous! This route really had a little bit of everything from hidden trails, and moss-covered rocks to bamboo fields, and crystal clear creeks and streams.

Streams ran along some of the rocky trails, on one occasion we crossed a stream by wading through it, it was squishy shoes all the way afterwards! Most of the trail was narrow, so we had to walk in single file! The rocks were seriously slippery, but I had bought a hiking stick on the previous day, and it turned out to be extremely useful!
