After volunteering at the Clothing Department at Crossroads for 3 weeks, I've been transferred to toys!! I have to say, I definitely find toys more interesting than clothes!... and the toys that the supervisors label as 'inappropriate' i.e. too old, missing parts, halloween etc... I get to take them to school for my kids to play with! The supervisor got the wrong idea, and thought that I was a young mum picking toys for her kids, so when she asked me how many kids I had... "I have about 170 kids."
The food is really nice, proper Western food - today was spag bog - and lots of interesting people to chat to... a relief since I don't have to level down my English like I do at work.
My Little Men and I started making 'divers in bottles' yesterday... little men in bottles filled with water. When you squeeze the bottle, the little man sinks, and when you let go, he floats back up again! My Little Men are really getting a kick out of making them :) The Little Shanghai dude is enthusiastic about everything we do, we still have trouble communicating, but he is quick to work out what my instructions mean... and he's not very keen on eating rice.
