La-Ma-Ma

Today's trip:

Destination
Lamma Island, the 3rd largest island in HK.

Transport
Ferry (half an hour) from Central to Yung Shue Wan, and from Sok Kwu Wan to Central.

Route
Yung Shue Wan > Tin Hau Temple #1 > Lamma Winds (wind turbine) > Hung Shing Yeh Beach > Pavilion > Lo So Shing Beach > Kamikaze Grottos > Tin Hau Temple #2 > Ling Kok Mountain (250m) > Mo Tat Wan > Sok Kwu Wan.

Do, Did, Done
In total, we walked for a duration of 5 hours, and a distance of just over 8km. Was it difficult? From Yung Shue Wan to Tin Hau Temple, is roughly a distance of 3km, and it was smooth sailing (or shall I say smooth hiking). The sun was out, there was a cool breeze blowing in from the sea, and the air was fresh. Saw lots of little stalls and cafes in the villages, as well as many Western expats. Stopped by to see the Lamma Winds.... and saw ONE wind turbine.... yes, what a load of difference that wind turbine makes to save electricity. Below the turbine is a power station that really stands out among the greenery. There was a high level of moisture coming from it, which created an upside-down rainbow in the sky, even though there wasn't a drop of rain that day. Kamikaze Grottos? They were being made by the Japanese during the Second World War, in order to hide their boats, but the war ended before they could use them.

After that, from Tin Hau Temple #2 to Sok Kwu Wan, things started getting a little tough. Of course, we could have just gone straight from Tin Hau Temple #2 to Sok Kwu Wan in a few steps, but no... we weren't feeling it i.e. the muscle aches from hiking that give you a sense of achievement (to me anyway). Heck, if I had known that this route was mainly ALL steps, long steps, short steps, steep steps, going up and down mountain steps, you name it, I might have had second thoughts. We estimated that we stepped on over a thousand steps on Lamma Island, literally, no joke, but the air was great up there, and the view was magnificent. Yes, I recommend you to take those steps, well worth it.... just as long as you aren't afraid of heights and exercise.

Anything Else?
Try the tea cakes and seafood. Top notch. Was going to take a picture, but the food was gone before I remembered to take my camera out.
