Easter Holiday

Hurray! Started my Easter holiday on the 5th (Thu), and what a pleasant surprise, I'm not ill!

On Fri 6th, I went hiking in Sai Kung, but didn't you go hiking there before you ask. Well, Sai Kung is so massive, its country parks (east and west) alone cover over 7,000 hectares. The trail I went on last time seems pretty tame compared to this one. Rocks coated with moss, roots jutting through the ground, muddy pools, paths overshadowed by trees and hidden among the undergrowth. There wasn't a single bit of smooth ground on that trail, and when it lead us away from the trees and along the edge of cliffs and mountains, my gosh the view was magnificent. This trail is definitely not for the faint-hearted. Paths lead high up into the mountains, and going down is quite precarious, as with the cliffs, there is no fence to stop you from falling down below. Much of my concentration was focussed on where I placed my feet, not on the scenery.

We walked from Hoi Ha Wan to Wong Shek Pier, which is roughly about 8km and took us 4 hours at a fast-to-moderate pace.

Unfortunately, the weather was cloudy, but there was a nice cool breeze coming from the sea. Gosh, I had a great time. It almost felt like I was an adventurer goin' adventurin', Robinson Crusoe-style *laugh* Yes, as you can probably tell, I'm pretty hyped up about this trip, wouldn't mind going again, although my thigh-to-bum muscles were aching afterwards. Lamma Island next...
