Tokyo's Only Village

This weekend was spent in Hinohara-mura, Tokyo's only village, further out in the west. Our lodgings were in a disused elementary school, which had been converted when the village no longer had any children left to attend it; most folk who live in the village are the elderly or retirees who just want a slower pace of life from the city.

It was a lovely weekend filled with chat, Othello, football, walks, wine, a BBQ and too much food. The friend with the motorbike had thoughtfully brought his spare helmet - I had arrived the previous evening by bus - and for the last time, before he was to leave the country, we biked it back to Tokyo.

Eurika! Thanks for your Letter and details of your Blog although I am a bit confused as the last entry is 2015??????????
When my Hard Drive went into retirement I lost Addresses and Pictures but Mark (my Youngest) managed to retrieve a lot of information but your blog was no longer operating as it referred to your original Blog Address. He tried to find you but there were thousands of 'Stephanie Fung' so it was impossible to find "My Stephanie" and I was supposed to write but now that is no longer necessary (hopefully).
Having gone to the trouble of writing that gigantic 6 page Epistle I am shamed to be still considered your friend and must compose my own insignificant effort to send off with your friends Stamps???? Keep your fingers crossed?

Hi Ron,
I'm glad you found me ;) but as you've mentioned, I'm playing catch-up.
I was playing catch-up with your letter too, hence the size. Hope it's somewhat comprehensible, I'm out of practice with letter writing; which is all the more reason to write you letters :)
Best wishes xx

Sorry my dear, but with no prompt response to my message of some 17 months ago I assumed you had closed this blog ? However I decided to have another look and lo & behold I find your comment of 7 weeks ago, hurrah!
Life continues at slow pace as my mobility continues to deteriorate and I have now sold my car and travel around in an Electric Mobility Scooter which is rather strange. The Speed Limit of 8 mph is too high so have had to lower it to 5?????? Also have crashed twice as am unable to get used to no Foot Brake???????
Just to think 4 years ago I was walking Sybil 3 times a day, now I struggle to hobble to the Front Gate and have a lovely Dog Walker who refuses to take any payment. Unfortunately she has broken two bones in her wrist so walks are far and few between.
Trust you are well and now doubt trying to get 10 days out of every week? Love RON xxx
