With a hiking event in two weeks that I'll be leading, I decided to go and scout the area ahead of time.
No red leaves yet, but they should be out in their full glory later in the month.
Nagatoro is famous for it's boat rides down the River Ara-Kawa, as well as for it's mini-mountain, Mt. Hodo (497.1m). At the top, by a small temple, you can enjoy hot amazake, a sweet fermented rice drink, by a wood fire whilst the old shopkeeper sings an old folk song about amazake.
