I have a new camera! With a busted backlight, my old compact needed to be replaced, and soon, before I go off to Hakone.
I think I'd gotten a good deal, although I did spend the equivalent of what I had spent on last year's Winter holiday. Since I don't have any major holiday plans this Winter, I've decided to spend the money on a good camera instead!
I've been thinking of graduating from compacts for quite a while now, yet I don't quite feel ready to move on to DSLRs, and so I bought a Olympus PEN Mini E-PM1. Its a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, sort of like a cross between a compact and a DSLR... so its smaller and lighter than a DSLR, but has DSLR-like quality imaging.
I've decided to buy it secondhand, since this model was only released a few months back, so its pretty much brand new, and well, the Japanese generally do take extremely good care of their electronics. The deal I went for came with a single lens kit, the M. ZUIKO DIGITAL 14-42mm 1:3.5-5.6 II R, and I treated myself to a Panasonic Lumix G 20mm F1.7 pancake lens ;)
Looking forward to trying out my new camera!!

Is everyone too busy with Santa Claus to contact you? So I'd better say something. Been traumatised by Sandy, she had Heamatoma inside an ear but could not have an opperation because she has a Heart Murmur. Fortunately the vet drained it under Local Anathsetic and she now appears OK. Unfortunately I was so upset that I put Deisel in my car. Cost £100 to have it cleaned out but also lost £60 of Fuel. Alls well that ends well.
Hope you have a FANTASTIC FESTIVE SEASON. XXX
