Students are such a good source for slang and other bits of language not taught in textbooks. I had a student call me a 'hokusoemu' ほくそ笑む because he thought I was secretly laughing in glee to myself over some winning moves in an igo game. It basically means 'gloat', and no I wasn't gloating, I was trying to stop myself from laughing, these igo members are just too damn funny for their own good.
My god it's hot, 32°C yesterday, 31°C today and 33°C tomorrow, and it's only mid-June. Let's not mention the classrooms with it's four measly fans, or the fact that the school is trying to energy-save i.e. no air-con, I'm just happy I've only one class tomorrow, and only one afternoon of classes in Elementary School next week. I've no energy, let alone enthusiasm, to do anything but stand by a window and do as little as possible.
