I am safe.
There were no casualties in my city, although my school shook enough that students and teachers had to grab ahold of the furniture. It was my first earthquake in Japan, and to be honest, I wasn't terrified, the training I had in an earthquake simulator must have prepared me better than I thought. It did however, feel sort of surreal and discontenting to feel the floor not behaving like a floor, and sipping tea at my desk while it did.

Thank you for your prompt report, a relief to hear you are OK. Fortunately you returned from your travels before all the chaos. God be with you and my LOVE
Thanks a lot Ron. The places I went to during the Winter wouldn't have felt much of a tremour, but I have a friend near where the earthquake happened... I can't get in touch, hopefully she's okay.
Thanks for updating us with your status. hope ur friend is safe too :)
Great to hear that you are in one piece!
Yulin and Shabby - Cheers for checking up on me! My friend literally lives in the next prefecture which had a 6.8 magnitude quake. Fortunately, even with an 8.9, the buildings in Miyagi Prefecture withstood pretty well (unlike China), so I have high hopes that she is well.
Last year I mentioned a friend who has been living there for about 30 years. It took his wife 3 hours to walk home after work, due to the Public Transport problem after the Earthquake.
Ooh, not good, especially if wearing a suit with heels, but good on her. Fortunately, I have to rely on public transport to get to work.
