'Christmas is Wonderful'
I claimed an empty piece of wall - there're dozens of blank walls in this school - and made a Christmas display. Not the best, but it kept me sane, and the students laughed at Mr Bean, looked at the pictures, read some of the text, so I think they like it.
What dragged most of the students to the display was probably the Christmas Giveaway. "Tell me what Mr Bean says when he's intoxicated with turkey and sherry" was the main gist of the ONE question, with the rules being: 1) It has to be about Christmas; 2) Must be a minimum of one sentence; and 3) Must be their own work.
I know, it sounds too easy, especially for Junior High students, and it was practically a giveaway...NOT! I'll admit that my school is the highest achieving school in the city, but the achievement rate is below average. So far, I've had some decent sentences, though some students tried to give me answers that they couldn't even read properly, let alone understand what they had 'apparently' come up with by themselves. 'Christmas is wonderful' was the most popular sentence...
Anyway, it was fun, and it was also a great way to talk to students whom I haven't spoken to since I started working here (there's 800 students, I'm working on it).

So I'm all booked for the Winter Holidays. I'm going to Takayama (Gifu Prefecture) for a few days followed by a week's trip to Fukuoka!
